Body and Finish

The body of each Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard is crafted from solid mahogany with a carved rock maple top, to which a gorgeous grad-AAA flame maple veneer is attached. The guitar is finished in your choice of Faded Cherryburst or Faded Ice Tea Burst, to capture the look of a gently aged Les Paul Standard. The design follows with the timeless lines of the original Les Paul Standard, with a gently arched, carved top and rounded lower bout, making it one of the most proven and tonally exalted electric guitar designs in history.

Pickups and Electronics

In the image of the original, the Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard carries a pair of the most accurate PAF reproductions Gibson has ever made. A BurstBucker™ 2 in the neck position and a slightly over-wound BurstBucker™ 3 in the bridge position offer excellent output balance and capture all the tone that made the Les Paul Standard famous in the first place. Their signal reaches the amp via a high-quality Switchcraft™ three-way selector switch and output jack, and independent volume and tone controls, with acclaimed Mallory™ 150 tone caps.

Neck, Fingerboard and Headstock

The neck is crafted from premium mahogany then glued into the body using a TiteBond® wood glue, utilizing a long-neck tenon typically found on the Les Pauls from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Extending well into the neck pickup cavity, the long-neck tenon provides additional strength and stability to the neck, and offers more wood-to-wood contact between the neck and body, which ultimately results in sweeter tone and longer sustain. The neck features the traditional ‘50’s neck profile with a rosewood fingerboard fitted with 22 nickel/silver alloy medium-jumbo frets.

Hardware

The Limited Edition 1959 Les Paul Standard is equipped with Epiphone’s LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stop-bar tailpiece, which provide extreme advantages both of tone and adjustability, along with classic vintage-style tuners. This legendary bridge provides a firm seating for the strings, allowing the player to adjust and fine-tune the intonation and string height in a matter of minutes. It also yields excellent coupling between strings and body, maximizing resonance, tone and sustain.
